ClixCentral - Trade & Upgrade Service

Terms and Conditions

Please read and agree to these terms and conditions carefully before using our Trade and Upgrade Service.

What is the Clix Central Trade & Upgrade Program?

We provide an opportunity for you to upgrade your existing equipment or invest in different equipment by trading in your current gear for an amount off the new gear.

What type of equipment is eligible to be traded in under the Program?

  • All gear must be genuine stock
  • Gear must either be functional, in working condition or can be fixed by our repairs team
  • Camera Gear includes film cameras, lenses and accessories
  • Stolen goods will not be accepted

What requirements does my equipment need to meet in order for me to trade it in?

Your equipment needs to be genuine Australian stock and in good working condition – this is ultimately determined by CameraClix in its sole discretion. Shutter count, error logs, sensor condition and general wear and tear will all influence your trade in value for cameras. Lens element condition and general wear and tear will influence the trade in value for lenses.

We may also choose not to accept your equipment because it has been marked as stolen goods with the Stolen Register or if it doesn’t make sense for us to take it at that time. For example, we might have just accepted the same model camera as a trade-in and not have the need to take in another one for a while. We don’t guarantee that we will accept your equipment as a trade-in. We recommend contacting us in advance to discuss the potential value of your items.

How can I submit my equipment for assessment?

Step 1 - Fill out the form online with details of your items and submit images to help convey the condition that your gear is in. Once your submission is received one of our technicians will be in contact to confirm if we choose to make you an offer and with an estimated quote for the value of your items. This quote is an estimation only of the value of your items.

Step 2 - For a final quote to be provided you will need to have your items inspected in person by one of our camera technicians. For those that live in Sydney, this can be done by dropping in your camera gear to one of our three locations, Broadway, Drummoyne, or Hornsby. If you are located elsewhere in Australia then you will need to ship your items to us. The shipping address will be provided at the base of your quote estimation.

Step 3 - The items will be inspected by one of our camera technicians and a final quote will be provided. If you are satisfied then we will proceed to step 4. If you are unsatisfied with this quote and would like your items returned then they will need to be collected. If you have shipped your items to us you will also need to cover the cost of shipping them back, this can be arranged by us, however at your cost of either $10 for standard or $15 for express shipping. Shipping will be conducted through Australia Post and will include a tracking number.

Step 4 - If you have accepted our final quote, we will either provide a credit or direct deposit. Credit/Direct deposit will be provided within 2-5 business days. The credit can be redeemed at our CameraClix Showrooms or online store. The credit will expire within 6 months.

How does trade-in work?

Bring or have your equipment delivered to the CameraClix Showrooms so that it can be assessed by a technician. You’ll generally need to leave your equipment with us, and assessments can take up to up to 5 business days. If we choose to make you an offer, we’ll provide you with a trade-in value amount, which you can either accept (and then leave the equipment with us) or reject (and collect your equipment). The accepted trade-in amount will be taken off the purchase price of approved nominated product/s. Your trade-in value must be used within 3 months.

What can I use my trade-in value towards?

Trade-in value can be used towards the purchase of any brand new products available in CameraClix showroom. You may not use the value towards studio hire, rental, catering or other services.

What happens if the trade-in value is more/less than the price of what I want to purchase?

If the new product you wish to purchase costs more than the trade-in value offered, then you simply need to pay the difference. If the product you wish to purchase is less than the trade-in value offered, you’ll need to choose an additional product to put the leftover value towards or redeem the remainder of your credit in another transaction – you must use your trade-in value within 6 months of the trade-in.

How do you assess the condition of my equipment?

CameraClix will evaluate your equipment using a trained technician. CameraClix will take into consideration several factors, including age, condition, included accessories, current resale prices and how much stock of that item CameraClix currently has. At the end of the day, it is up to CameraClix whether it chooses to accept your equipment or not and how much it is prepared to offer off the purchase of any new equipment.

How much do I get for my equipment?

This will be determined by CameraClix in its sole discretion having regard to the condition of the equipment, the market value of new and old equipment and whether CameraClix has your items in stock already.

Can I get cash for my trade-in?

No – we only offer store credit or direct deposit

What happens once I receive a trade-in offer?

Once an offer is made, it must be accepted (or declined) before we return your equipment. If you take back your equipment, then the offer lapses. Goods traded-in become the property of CameraClix. You can’t change your mind once you’ve confirmed to trade in an item.

Warranty for Second Hand Purchases

All second hand purchases will come with a 30 day limited warranty provided by CameraClix.

Should your equipment be defective, we will assess and get back in contact with you. If repair is not possible, we will issue you either a replacement product of equal grade or a refund. Shipping for repairs will be covered by us for items under warranty.

Our warranty covers camera grades: A+, A, B, C. Any items graded either D or E will not be covered under warranty. Damage cause by misuse, water, sand or tampering by anyone other then CameraClix will void the warranty.

Anything else I need to know?

It is your responsibility to remove any personal material e.g. memory cards, and back up and delete your data (if applicable) from your equipment before trading it in.

You will also need to ensure any personal details such as name, phone, email address etc. are correct as CameraClix is not responsible for incorrect information.
