Lightning fast readout speeds

A new 24MP full frame back illuminated stacked CMOS sensor delivers faster readout speeds for reduced rolling shutter distortion, equivalent to the mechanical shutter of EOS-1D X Mark III.

Next generation autofocus

Track moving subjects with precision and ease like never before. Deep learning algorithms are applied for a range of subjects and Register People Priority mode allows you to register and prioritise people to ensure your primary subject is the focus of attention.

Supercharged AF accuracy

Cross-type AF is included for the first time on an EOS R series body accurately captures subject patterns to further increase accuracy especially in situations where subjects have many horizontal lines, small sizes or when the subject is low contrast.

More resolution on hand when needed

In-camera upscaling after shooting from JPEG or HEIF files delivers images up to 96MP. This can be combined with in-camera cropping to deliver higher resolution cropped images and with in-camera Neural Network Noise Reduction for images with less noise.

Eye Control AF
Sensors in the electronic viewfinder track the movement of the photographers’ eye which enables the user to quickly change tracking to a different subject.

Explosive continuous shooting speeds
Shoot continuous RAW bursts at up to 40 frames per second with AF/AE tracking between each frame.

Canon Log 2 & Canon Log 3
Canon Log 2 & Canon Log 3 are included to ensure a wide dynamic range. Canon Log 2 enables shooting with dynamic range of up to 16 stops.

4K 120p recording
Supports up to Full HD 240P and 4K 120P* recording. This lets users capture scenes with fast movement, such as sports and concerts.

RF lenses for greater possibilities
RF lenses enable richly expressive, high-quality imaging. The high-speed communication capabilities of the RF mount makes operation intuitive and stress-free.

Neural Network Noise Reduction
Applies deep learning to generate images with reduced noise when processing RAW images in camera, without the need for external computer or software. This can be combined with in-camera image upscaling to produce an image with less noise and higher resolution.

In-body image stabilisation
Co-ordinated Control Image Stabilization is now improved to 8.5 stops at centre and 7.5 stops at peripheral.*¹*²
